In the War of Independence, many patriots joined forces, bearing arms to expel the enemy from our territory. The self-organized groups known as “Çete” fought heroically without formal obligation, and their members were called “Çeteci”.

Çete Ayşe was one of these heroes. In fact, she was among the first of them—a Mujahideen woman who was the first in the history of the Kuvâ-yi Milliye to wear an Efe outfit and the first to receive the title of Efe.
